How St. Petersburg preparesfor 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
From June 14 till July 15 Russia will host in total 64 games of 2018 FIFA World Cup, seven of which will be held in St. Petersburg, including one of semifinals and match for the third place. The first game of the FIFA World Cup will start in less than five months. The Venice of the North actively prepares for the football event.

St. Petersburg prepares for the World Cup at the stadium of upcoming matches (Saint Petersburg Stadium on Krestovsky Island) and beyond it. The host city will offer the opportunity to watch the broadcast of all matches in live on a big screen and enjoy atmosphere of the international event. FIFA Fan Fest in St. Petersburg will be organized on Konyushennaya Square – in the historical centre of the city, next to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Fan zone of the World Cup should become the most popular place for fans after the stadium.
By the beginning of the World Cup many transport infrastructure facilities will be built in St. Petersburg. Opening of two new metro stations "Novokrestovskaya" and "Begovaya" (line 3) is scheduled for spring 2018 and will allow fans to get to Saint Petersburg Stadium even more conveniently. The "Novokrestovskaya" station will be located in the western part of Krestovsky Island, close to the stadium.
Another important element of the infrastructure for 2018 World Cup is the Yacht Bridge, which was commissioned for operation in 2017 before the beginning of FIFA Confederations Cup. Thanks to the new pedestrian bridge, football fans can quickly move between Krestovsky Island and the mainland Primorsky district of the city.
